48 Hours

These last two days have been crazy yet wonderful. Here's why!
My days always start with a sleepy Modah Ani coming through half-open lips.
Then it's a stroll to the washing area whilst uttering the Bathroom Blessing, followed by the Morning Blessings and, a bit later, Shacharit.
After reading the daily Aliyah, I usually check my emails and WhatsApps.
During Shacharit of 2 days ago, during prayers the thought occurred to me: "I think perhaps God is pleased with us 3 little old ladies, with no Temple and 3 different siddurim, we are still praying!" And I smiled.
Later in the afternoon I was at my desk and looked out the window. I saw 3 brown birds with black mohawks on top of their heads and beautiful long tails. These birds hide so well in the leaves of the trees as they move rapidly around that I have never been able to catch sight of them yet. When I did see them, they were worth the wait. Baruch HaShem for Your amazing creation LORD.
In a later prayer meeting a friend who has moved to a new house in the country (far from here) saw deer coming right up to her kitchen door. The other lady in the prayer meeting saw a big, fat wood pidgeon in her front yard, eating ALL the crumbs she had put out:)
The absolute highlight of my week was a visit from my eldest daughter and her boyfriend on Sunday just past. Here is the pic:
A friend said she looks Jewish and my mom said she looks like a model:) I just look very wrinkly!
And then....
After ages and ages of not seeing my children, my eldest twin daughter phoned and invited me for lunch on Sunday. Shortly after that my youngest twin daughter phoned and asked if I wanted to go with them to visit granny. In the end, we decided to all have lunch together and all go and visit Granny (my mom) together. What a wonderful treat for me! I so very seldom see or even hear from my children. I feel so very blessed!
In addition, my cousins and I have been sharing childhood memories on our new social media group. It is simply wonderful. Some of us are in South Africa, even in East London, yet others are as far-flung as New Zealand and the UK. It's an answer to prayer for me to be back in contact with all of them again.
I taught 2 Biblical Hebrew classes, did a couple of classes of the Gospel of Matthew through Jewish lenses, did a Torah study, prayed with some of my friends from the UK, and told them about Thumbelina carrots. They were duly amazed!
A friend took me to the Cell Repair shop today to get my phone's screen replaced (it got smashed when it was dropped). Baruch HaShem that I have a working phone again! The thing I really needed it for was to phone my grandson to say the goodnight prayers! Two days without talking to him was torture!
While we were out, I got some more potting soil so I could come home and plant Aunty Olga's Forget-Me-Nots. I also took a painting I was given to the framers. Elizabeth Robertson Campbell, author of The Choice (she's in the process of making a movie of her story), is the subject of the painting, and it is beautiful. Here's a link to the book:

To celebrate my newly acquired pensionerhood, we had a Pensioner's Meal at a local restaurant, Idyllic Treats, in Nahoon. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. And the coffee was amazing!

I have my last Hebrew class for the day coming up shortly. My heart is full of adoration for my Father, the One Who loves me without measure.
Today was Pesach Sheni, the day that reminds us that our God is the God of Second Chances!
Tomorrow holds the promise of more fulfilling tasks: Shacharit, Torah study, Mincha, and more Biblical Hebrew. Who could ask for more?!

DeleteWhat a treat to read your lovely blog so full of humour. Praise the Lord for blessing you with visits from your children and His birds. Your daughter is so pretty. Loke her mum. Thank you for sharing ♥️
ReplyDeleteThank you. My children tell me I'm hopeless at telling jokes, so I am glad you like my sense of humour:)
DeleteAs always, your blog is heartwarming, fun, enlightening and delightful in its simplicity and honesty! I am honored to be counted among your friends, my Dear Penny! I thank our Abba for knitting our hearts together by His Ruach - though we were separated by continents and oceans in the natural - as we studied Hebrew together, and I will never forget the adventures we shared for those 3 weeks in Eretz Yisrael!
ReplyDeleteOh, those Precious Memories from Israel! My heart still longs for Jerusalem, every day! And yes, I am also grateful for the way God has glued us together over the immense distance. Remember Clint's face when he came to collect the garbage bags to take them downstairs! Adventures indeed! Much love:)
