Yehonathan
A few weeks ago my son and a friend of his flew to Johannesburg to collect this classic car, which he had saved for nearly a year to buy. They then drove it back to East London together. I had the privilege of sharing the journey with them via live location services. What an exhausting trip!
I was sitting on my balcony one day, reading the Bible. I opened it to Kings and read the words "This time next year you will have a son" - I went: "What?"
It turns out that at that time I was already 2 months pregnant with him and didn't know it. What a joy it was to give birth to him! He caused so much happiness in the hospital - all the nurses were running around shouting hallelujahs! It was incredible. The LORD had also previously given me a verse of Scripture saying that he would be a unique individual and many would rejoice at his birth! Amazing!
He was born Matthew, but has given me permission to call him Yehonathan, which is the name I wanted to give him, but his dad didn't agree. At least Matthew means more or less the same thing.
In primary school he collected awards without even trying. His mind, then and now, is outstanding. My girls all say he got all the brains!
Even though he has limitations that he has to fight to overcome, he is progressing well in his chosen career, has a lovely apartment in a good area and is a kind person.
Yehonathan, I want to honour you with this little blog post and thank you for being my son. I and your sisters all love you tremendously. We just wish we saw you more often.
May he always honour you
