Juan-Dre, Day Two to the first Shabbat together
Thank You HaShem, for this beautiful Erev Shabbat day.
The sun is shining, my grandson is with me, and my heart is full. As I prepare to prepare for our first Shabbat together since December, I am thankful for the many blessings bestowed on me from on High.
After lunch with his mom the other day, we just chilled at home together. He has since seen her almost every day for a few hours. He is in such demand when he is here, we have to slice and dice his time between all the people that love him and whom he loves. He's very happy to be here, of course, but last night at bedtime he mentioned the fact that he is just starting to miss his computer at home! Though he did say afterwards that he should really be missing me more than his computer! Bless his little soul.
He has been poring over his new encyclopaedia with great gusto. What a wonderful gift that was!
He has been eating almost non-stop - I remember this stage from my own son. I am delighted that he is willing to now eat vegetables with every meal. Albeit only a tablespoon full!
I have put all my online ladies' gatherings on hold for the time that Juan-Dre is here, except for my Mincha prayers. I have been praying with him in the morning, just the two of us, as well as the prayers before bed in the evening, which we do every day on Zoom anyway - it's just such a blessing to be able to do them in person for a couple of weeks. We pray before and after meals together as well - may the words of the prayers, which are mostly Scripture, be imprinted on his heart for all time.
On Monday he went to see his friend up the road and his mom fetched him from there for a visit. The allotted two hours with Connor felt like five minutes to him and he was a bit grumpy that he had to leave. Poor kid. On Tuesday, after my Hebrew class, we - Juan-Dre & I as well as my daugher Bethany and her husband - all went to my mom and we visited for a couple of hours with her. We took her for a joy ride in her wheelchair to a shady spot outside.
Wednesday after breakfast it was off to Connor and family for a day out at the nature reserve and the beach. What fun they had! Such good friends they are. It is such a blessing to have a childhood friendship that endures to adulthood. May this be one of them and may it be beneficial to both of them.
Thursday was a lovely, cosy day. It rained virtually the entire day and it was cold - a great excuse to cuddle up warmly at home and just have a quiet day together. Which we did. When the sun came out in the late afternoon, his mom came for another visit.
Today, we are going out with a friend and her daughter for a walk on the boardwalk & snacks in nature. The wind is blowing a bit, but not enough to stop us from our excursion. Thereafter the plan is to go to Connor and spend the afternoon examining the VR.
Early Shabbat shalom
