A Prophet like me
In the third aliyah of Shoftim, in Devarim, Chapter 18, verses 15 to 19, we read (Moses talking to the Israelites just before his death):
"ADONAI will raise up for you a prophet like me from among yourselves, from your own kinsmen. You are to pay attention to him, just as when you were assembled at Horev and requested ADONAI your God, 'Don't let me hear the voice of ADONAI my God any more or let me see this great fire ever again; if I do I will die!' On that occasion ADONAI said to me, 'They are right in what they are saying. I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their kinsmen. I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I order him. Whoever doesn't listen to my words, which he will speak in my name, will have to account for himself to me'." - CJB.
In John 12:49-50, Yeshua says:
"For I have not spoken on my own initiative, but the Father who sent me has given me a command, namely, what to say and how to say it. And I know that his command is eternal life. So what I say is simply what the Father has told me to say."
The underlined portions in each portion of Scripture tell us that Yeshua is The Prophet that God said He would send, the same one that the Jewish people and the whole world had been waiting for.
If one reads the few verses in John just before verse 49, Yeshua spells out the disaster that will befall anyone who doesn't heed him, as a messenger from the Father.
In Matthew Chapter 16 verses 13-17, Yeshua speaks again to Peter:
"When Yeshua came into the territory around Caesarea Philippi, he asked his talmidim, 'Who are people saying the Son of Man is?' They said, 'Well, some say Yochanan the Immerser, others Eliyahu, still others Yirmeyahu or one of the prophets.'
'But you,' he said to them, 'who do you say I am?" Shim'on Kefa answered, 'You are the Mashiach, the Son of the living God.'
Yeshua said to him, 'how blessed you are! For no human being revealed this to you, no, it was my Father in Heaven'."
There are many other Scriptures and sayings of Yeshua HaMashiach that clearly prove He is the Messiah, sent by God to save the whole world. For those of us who know Him, these Scriptures are backed up by our own personal testimonies of how He saved us. No one can take our testimonies away from us, no matter what they say.
The way He changed me from the inside out - instantaneously! - is way too miraculous to be just explained away. I am so blessed that He has shown me His true identity as the Jewish Messiah - and of course, everyone who so wishes can join the House of Israel. He is the door that leads to life.
If God the Father chose to have His Torah given to a group of people called Israel and then chose to have His Son born into that same community that followed His Torah and kept it safe, should we not seriously consider that Yeshua did not come to create a new religion, but to cement the eternal and true one?
Did Yeshua not say, "I have not come to abolish the Torah"? Yes, He did! And He also said, "If you love me, keep my commandments". Which ones? All of them! Where will we find these commandments? In the Torah. Obedience to the Commandments is the love language of the Father and the Son!
Shavu'a tov!
