The Life of God

This is a photo of a huge tree in our garden, just outside my lounge window.

I tried earlier this morning to get a decent close-up picture of the green shoot growing out of the tree at the bottom of the V it forms, but my phone kept changing the media to video and I cannot for the life of me get the video to upload properly here. So after all the busyness of the morning, I went back and took a less-enlarged pic. I hope you can see the strong green shoot growing out of the tree...

So this tree must surely be a hundred years old. It is truly huge. When the landlord installed the solar panels on my roof, he had to chop most of it down, but it grew very quickly again. Then he got the garden service - who are not tree-fellers by any stretch of the imagination - to just chop it back down. They really assaulted the poor tree - but they did the best they could with the tools and knowledge they had - they hacked and ripped branches off with great force. The tree had gaping wounds all over by the time they were finished.

When I saw the regrowth in the image above this morning, my first thought was: "The Life of God!" Nothing can stop His plan for the planet!

So I just wanted to share this with you. That in God's world, all things heal themselves - that alone is a miracle! - and nothing dies unless He says so.

On the subject of ordinary, daily things:

I recently wrote out the Hebrew names of the Moedim for my landlady's daughter, who did a project on Judaism. Through that, I discovered today, I achieved a first in my life: I became a Bibliography! Just goes to show: You're never too old for firsts!

Having tried various cheap and easy breads/pancakes/loaves to make at home, with varied levels of success, I found a lovely recipe for Irish Soda bread. My first attempt is in the oven right now. I will let you know how it turns out! And in the process, I learned to make my own buttermilk, which the recipe calls for.

I'm eyeing what I call my Yom Kippur list - which I put together during Elul, according to what the Lord shows me I need to work on - and I've already rewritten it a couple of times and I am going to need to re-reconsolidate it. It was a bit overwhelming at first and I said:

"O Lord, how am I ever going to change so many behaviours all at once?"

I will just look at and consider the list every day throughout the coming months and then look inside myself to check on the progress, remembering that none of this is possible without Help from the Heavens, namely Yeshua.

Well, looking at my soda bread - it looks like it hasn't risen that much, but maybe it will still. I need to turn the temperature down now, so I'll end with the things I still have to look forward to this evening:

A class on the inner meaning of the Torah, specifically who the beautiful woman taken captive is, a chat and prayer with my beloved grandson, reading of the Jerusalem Talmud with a friend and a class on the Haftorah portion.

Blessings from my home to yours!
