Accounting of the Soul

At the end of each day, it is my desire and intention to Cheshbon Nefesh - an accounting of the soul. I prefer to call it Pekudei Nefesh - Accountings of the soul.

    This
is the process by which we take stock of how we have spent the last day that has just passed and if we indeed did bring God honour by the things we did and said - and didn't do and didn't say. A very healthy practice.

While eating my dinner this past Erev Shabbat, I managed to swallow a chicken bone. I felt it go down my throat and experienced momentary panic, but soon realised it must have gone down vertically and just continued with my meal. A short time later I noticed a certain blockage in my food pipe, and began to pray that said chicken bone would not be the cause of my untimely demise.

Since I am penning this a whole 2 days later, HaShem obviously saw fit to give me more days to breathe, for which I am truly grateful.

Being alive is never to be taken for granted. I appreciate each and every morning I open my eyes to a new day. Today was no exception.

I dallied around the place a bit until 10am, when a friend and I prayed Shacharit together. I then showered and dressed at a leisurely pace and with a shock realised my friends were fetching me in 15 minutes. I prayed. I have never dressed my just-washed hair, hung up a load of washing and prepared my house for leaving in such a short time - 5 minutes, to be exact!

Only to wait 15 minutes for my friend who had forgotten where I stayed - just goes to show you when last I have been to a social gathering!

We had lovely afternoon tea and visited in a most pleasant manner until about 6pm. I had by now missed my Sunday Shiur but busied myself with a few things until it was time to phone my grandson to pray at 7.50. Then a friend and I prayed for our children, after which I attended an online prayer meeting for Israel.

I am very thankful to the LORD for allowing me to spend about 5 hours with real, live people. We discussed a couple of topics related to the Kingdom of God and the End Times we are living in, we prayed for one of our number and then very cheerily parted company till next time.

Sum of the good I did today?

    1. I prayed for others, for Israel, and for my grandson.

    2. I visited with other believers and we discussed topics related to our faith.

3I maintained my Guf, got some exercise, and fed my neshamah.

May HaShem raise me up for a good life and peace in the morning, for another opportunity to do more mitzvot!

    1. Dr Google suggested I drink fizzy cooldrink, so after 2 litres of Cream Soda, it's gone, Baruch HaShem!
