This beautiful flower is called a Crying Heart.
A few minutes ago, I walked to our local little Spar to purchase something with my last R11. When I got to the counter the cashier asked me:
"What is it that you like? Cheesecake?"
Surprised, I responded:
"Yes, I like cheesecake...."
"When last did you have one?" she questioned again.
Wondering where this was going, I frowned slightly and said:
"A long time ago, I can't remember."
"Why?" she prodded.
I shrugged and said:
"Life is expensive. I'll have one again at my birthday."
"When is your birthday?" she continued.
"Next year," I said smiling.
She giggled and said:
"Wait."
And then she came back with a cheesecake and said:
"It's my turn today."
The lady behind me in the queue smiled at me.
I was so moved with her kindness that I actually got tears in my eyes. I love cheesecake yes, but it was her kindness to me that got me.
I break my ma'asei kesef up into small amounts and give it daily to the cashiers and security guards who work there, because it's unsafe for me to walk the streets looking for poor people to give to. I have also worked as a cashier, and I know they don't earn a fortune. Same with the security guards. Most of them live in the local informal housing and life isn't easy. I'm very blessed that HaShem has given me this group of people to bless with the overflow of what He gives me. Never for a moment did I think any one of them would do what this lady did this morning. Zikhona. Her name is Zikhona. I'm going to ask her for her phone number next time I'm there and send her a copy of this post. My heart is so moved within me. It isn't very often that people show kindness to me. If you are one of the people who see me from time to time and DO show kindness to me in some or other way, you know who you are and of course, I appreciate you. You are the exception, not the norm.
So now you know the reason for the image of the beautiful flower at the top of the page.
What an unexpectedly, amazingly, beautiful way to start the day! As I was walking up the driveway this morning I thought about what God had created on the 5th day. Of course, He created all the creatures that live in the sea and all the birds that fly in the air. Random thought, but I'm sure there's some significance to it.
Thank you Zikhona for the kindness and thoughtfulness you showed to me this morning. My heart is warm and you have made my day.
Have a good day everyone! May HaShem meet all your needs!

Amen. You are blessed because you are always so grateful and thankful. May HaShem's blessings continue to abound.

Todah Ascending Initials. I receive that gratefully:)
DeleteYour dear Zikhona lived up to her name! It means "we are present", we are recognized! I got goosebumps all over when I read this explanation.
